(Guest) John Davies (Member of the Public) Apologies:- Colin Caskie (Treasurer) ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTE OF MEETING HELD ON WEDNESDAY 9TH DECEMBER, 2010. Proposed by Jan Seconded by Pat PUBLIC QUESTION TIME:- Mr John Davies of Station Road, Shandon attended the meeting and raised the matter of the state that AMEC had left the site of the former houses at Woodlea Crescent, Shandon. Whilst the houses had been demolished some 7-8 years ago the site had been used by various contractors AMEC being the last occupant of the site. Mr Davies has been trying since 2009 to have the site cleaned up. Mr Davies advised that the site is full of rubbish and is being used for fly tipping. Mr Davies has been in correspondence with Commander Leatherby, R.N. who has been sympathetic in principal but is bound by money constraints. Discussions took place regarding ownership of the ground and screening of the ground which would cost approximately £20,000 and not be full height screening. Mr Davies seeks the help of the Community Council to take forward his request for the site to be restored to a reasonable condition. After further discussion it was agreed that a letter should be drafted to the Naval Base Commander cc Chief Executive Defence Estates. Letter to be drafted by Jack Rudram and Mr. John Davies. GUEST SPEAKER:- James Leatherby R.N. General Discussion nothing of note to report. MATTERS ARISING:- Jan:- has reported to Stuart McCracken the broken step at the entrance to the Bin Area/Playpark in Manse Brae and also the problems encountered with the grit bins. Jan noted that she had seen vans with workmen dispersing the salt by shovel. Archie:- Noted that the shop had re-opened John:- Advised that the Website was now up to date. Discussion took place regarding changing whether we should continue with the existing Web Supplier or change. It was agreed to change to Spanglefish who will give us a 10 page Website Free with Google adverts, but we will be required to pay £15 per annum to change Domain Name provider. Colin:- In Colin’s absence Jan reported that there was no movement in the state of the Bank Account. BI-MONTHLY MEETINGS:- After discussion it was agreed by 4 votes to three that Bi Monthly Meetings be retained. CORRESPONDENCE:- Jan had received a letter from Climate Change regarding the Cutting of Carbon Emissions. They were looking to the Community Council to send a letter of support for the Cutting of Carbon Emissions. While the members agreed that Carbon Emissions should be cut it was felt that a letter was not necessary. Letter received from Argyll and Bute Council detailing the Plan for the Core Paths Planning Consultation. Consultation will end on the 4th April,2011 after which time no further correspondence on the Plan can be accepted. John will post on the Website. MEMBER’S REPORTS:- John, Martin and Jack - Nothing Archie: Noted that he had no sighting of squirrels this year in Ardenconnel Woods. The 2 lights that had been repaired in Lineside Walk in June were lit constantly. Pat: Playground fund standing just short of £17,000. Fund now registered for Gift Aid. Pat to persue funding from the Base with James Leatherby R.N. Pat to check with Environmental Health if they have been using poison on the Spit to clear rats. Gordon:Advised that 17 Gas Boilers had been taken out of the maisonettes in Smuggler’s Way. Water coming from the grounds of a house in Arden Hill, Rhu. No action yet to remove the Phone Box at the foot of Manse Brae. Provost Petrie was to chase up. Street Light at the Bus Stop in the centre of Rhu Number R 41 not working again. Re-surfacing of Laggary Road to Station Road and also Caldwell Place will not now take place until the new Financial Year which should be after the 1st April, 2011. Gas works just now finished. Advised that in touch with James Daly on an ongoing basis regarding the Lights and Drains. Jan:Advised that during the water problem in Shandon in December,2010 bottled water was left at the foot of roads. Jack advised that he saw no water, nor had he any delivered to his door.
